Our housemate Henry is leaving us in September to move in with his girlfriend, which means we have a lovely room in our house up for grabs!
About the room:
It’s a garden-view room with an en suite. The bedroom comes with the double bed and some clothes storage. The en suite has a rainfall shower, toilet and sink.
Key info about the house:
The house is detached, with three floors and five bedrooms. It has a living room and separate dining space, a conservatory, a fantastic kitchen and a delightful garden that we’ve planted herbs in. It’s three minutes from Ally Pally train station and ten minutes from Wood Green tube. We have a cat, a meal rota and a lot of plants. The house also has a washer and a dryer and space for storing bikes.
More info:
You’ll be living with Grace, Chris, David and Andy. Grace is a lawyer, Chris is studying medicine, David is a programmer and Andy is a case worker. We enjoy watching Netflix together, we occasionally host house parties, and sometimes we do the Alexandra Palace park run (a five minute walk away from the house). Last year we went to the Darts at Ally Pally dressed as MarioKart characters.
There’s also George, our cat. George enjoys laser pointers and scratching posts, and would probably enjoy a long walk on the beach but we haven’t tried that yet. He has a cat flap and is generally pretty self-sufficient; if you want to keep him out of your room, it’s fairly easy to do to so.
The big thing about this house is we’re a group of people who all want to make this place a home. To that end, each night (Monday to Thursday) one of us cooks for the rest of the house - this is mostly vegetarian but not exclusively so. On Saturdays, someone will do brunch. It’s fairly flexible and we don’t have set days, but we’d like it if you’d be keen to take part. We don’t always sit down and eat together, because we all have busy lives, but it’s nice when there’s food waiting for you when you come back from the pub or a bad Hinge date. If you have very restrictive dietary considerations, this setup may not work.
In terms of costs, rent and bills comes to: £1100 (rent, council tax, water, energy, wifi). The water/energy can fluctuate on usage, something we resolve via Splitwise.
We also run a Splitwise for when people buy soap or other household items. We try not to be too precious over generic things like milk, but if you buy something special, it’ll be left alone. Each person has a space in the fridge and we try to keep honest with a rotating house chores rota.
When messaging about the room, we’d love to hear what sort of things you enjoy cooking or eating, a bit about yourself and your interests. There are no wrong answers, don’t worry!
