The second bedroom in my maisonette in Canning Town, E16. It'd be you and me,
and one bathroom between the two of us.
The room available has a double solid wood bed frame with a mattress that has 4,000 springs with memory foam on top. The mattress is brand new, you'd be
the first person to sleep on it. Pine wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside
table and a big mirror. I've got a clothes rail I can put up if the
wardrobe won't take everything.
The bathroom was redone recently. Floor to ceiling tiling, bath with a
shower over it, heated towel rail, vanity unit with storage (1 drawer each). Only
two of us using it.
There's a separate living room with a sofa and a dining table and TV. I'm mostly watching YouTube for work & education, so it's free most
evenings and weekends. Add Netflix or anything else you want to it. I don’t have a subscription to Netflix or Disney Plus, but you’re welcome to add theses if you like. If you want to watch live TV you would be responsible for paying for a TV licence as it’s not something I do (does anyone these days?)
The maisonette has a fitted
kitchen, including separate fridge and freezer, a washing machine, and dishwasher. No toaster or kettle as I don’t use either. You’re welcome to add these kinds of small appliances. I won’t use them as I don’t eat toast and I don’t drink tea or coffee.
For tube connections: it’s 15 minutes' walk to Canning Town (Jubilee, DLR) in one direction and about the same to Custom House (Elizabeth, DLR) in another direction, or about 10 on
the bus to either. Plaistow (Hammersmith, District, Circle) is an extra 5 - 10 mins on those journey times.
Canary Wharf and Stratford are both 30 mins away, door to door,
Rent covers gas, electricity, water, broadband and council tax, and security.
The flat has an ADT alarm (direct connection to the police) and a Ring doorbell with video, so you can see
who's at the door from your phone.
My parents own the place and I rent it
from them, so it's the two of them and me who hold keys. Nobody else. It
would be a lodger agreement with me as your live-in landlord.
About me: I work from home. I've got a full-time job and a side hustle on
top, so I'm around a lot during the day. Out at Pilates around three times a
week and otherwise fairly quiet. This isn't a party flat and I'm not
looking to turn it into one, but I'm happy to chat in the kitchen or watch a movie once in a while.
Hi Edward, thanks for getting in touch. The room is for one person only.
Unfortunately, this is not open to couples. I've had three people in this flat before, and it was too busy for one bathroom and one kitchen, so I'm keeping it to two.
For those looking to work from home, it would probably be a squeeze to fit a desk in the room unless you go for one that can fold away, like the IKEA LÄNGDHOPP. You're welcome to use the table in the living room if you'd like more space. I have a decent desk setup in my room, so I wouldn't need to share the table much, but I do wander through the living room every now and again, so you might want headphones on to focus.
