My comfortable, peaceful home in Barnstaple has rather more space than I need now that my family has grown up, and I’m looking for the right person to share it with.
I’m registered through North Devon District Hospital and the University of Exeter to host medical students on short placements during term time. They generally stay for just one to three nights during the week, and the house is large enough to comfortably accommodate both a longer-term guest and the occasional student.
The house is a large Victorian terrace and has been extensively refurbished in recent years. I have up to three comfortable spare rooms, including two double rooms as well as the single room pictured, so there may be some flexibility and choice depending on what you are looking for.
The bedrooms are on the middle floor of the house, close to the family bathroom with a walk-in shower. You would generally have the bathroom to yourself, apart from the occasional medical student staying during term time. I am fairly self-contained on the top floor, where I have my own bedroom and bathroom, so the house affords a good degree of privacy.
We would share the kitchen and usual facilities, including the washing machine and dishwasher. There is fast broadband, central heating and all bills are included.
The house is very well located. Barnstaple town centre and bus station are around an eight-minute, flat walk away and Rock Park is just a few minutes from the house. The hospital is approximately a 35–40 minute walk away. There is free on-street parking; it can be busy at times, but it is generally possible to find a space. I tend to cycle around town myself in dry weather.
A little about me: I’m a retired art teacher and now make ceramics and prints from home. I enjoy yoga, swimming, tennis, coastal walking, photography and the arts. The house is my family home rather than a conventional house share, and I’m looking for someone independent and considerate who would appreciate a comfortable, peaceful and relaxed place to live.
I’m happy to consider stays from a few weeks to several months, and the house may be particularly well suited to junior doctors, visiting medics and other healthcare professionals working locally who are looking for a comfortable home base while in North Devon. The rent is £140 per week, including all bills and the TV licence.
Please do get in touch if you think the house might suit you. I’m very happy to answer any questions or share more photos.
